Linking research & teaching at ANU

Some examples of ANU courses and activities linking teaching and research are presented below to disseminate ideas and good practice and to provide a resource for new and experienced academics.

Further examples of award winning teaching practice at the ANU can be found at the database CaSEE – Case Studies of Educational Excellence developed by CEDAM with funding support from the ANU and the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) through the Promoting Excellence Initiative project (2008-2010).

If you have an example of interesting practice where students are engaged in inquiry, research or research-like activities, please contact Pam Roberts or on 6125 0060.

Communities of Practice

The ANU communities of practice (CoPs) evolved through a Teaching and Learning Communities project funded through the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC)  The most successful CoPs evolved as cross-disciplinary, structured, but informal spaces for deeper conversations and engagement for people with some common interest concerned to effect change within their workspace. Some of the activities, learning and resources developed during this project are captured below.

Tutors and demonstrators often provide the face-to-face contact with students that is more difficult to achieve in larger and more formal classroom settings. This manual has been designed to assist and support you in your efforts. See manual
